About the event
Stanzi Vaubel and Philippe Treuille first worked together on a theatrical production at Northwestern University in 2008. Since then, Stanzi has created the Indeterminacy Festival while Philippe has grown his career as a composer. In 2023, the pair reunited to compose Fourteen Porches.
Inspired by the fourteen porches in historical Nolan Park, Stanzi set out to direct the Indeterminacy Festival on Governor's Island this 2024. The performance will feature over sixty singers from the New York Choir Project, led by Charlie Adams, in collaboration with students from the Brooklyn Conservatory, led by Nora Friedman. Together, Vaubel and Treuille are developing a score to be performed from fourteen porches surrounding Nolan Park, on June 7 and 8, 2024. At the center of it all, choreography by Melanie Aceto will be performed by 20 New-York based dancers from her Choreo-Lab Ensemble.
The Indeterminacy Festival is focused on creating performances that respond to the uncertainty that underlies our day-to-day experience in 2024. The aim of our projects is to lean into this uncertainty and to develop creative strategies responding to the disorientation of our times.
